The Minor Irrigation Department, Hapur Division, Neer Foundation, and the Indian River Council, organized the Neem River Awareness Yatra. The one-day event, spanning 14 kilometers along the Neem River, was inaugurated by the SC of the Irrigation Department and the CDO of Hapur.
Objective:
The Neem River Awareness Yatra aimed to highlight the significance of the Neem River and emphasize the need for groundwater conservation. The initiative sought to educate local communities about preserving this essential water source while encouraging a stronger connection between the river and its users.
Community Engagement:
Throughout the yatra, Rohit Sangwan from Purva Foundation and Raman Kant from the Indian River Council engaged with residents from 10 villages along the river. They shared vital information about river cleanliness and encouraged discussions on how to protect and enhance the health of the river. This engagement played a key role in fostering a sense of collective responsibility for the river’s conservation.
